30 SPOOKS IN 60 MINUTES
REGISTRATION ON EVENTBRITE IS FREE TO RESERVE YOUR SEAT - TICKETS: $10 AT WILL CALL WITH YOUR EVENTBRITE RESERVATION - On the night of October 22nd, 2019 in a haunting black-box theatre in North Hollywood, Debatable Productions will be hosting our very first themed acting night: an ensemble experiment presenting "30 Plays in 60 Minutes." Each two-minute play (written by the uber-talented neo-futurist* ensemble cast) is performed with an interactive audience. All of the play titles are on a menu that each audience member can "order" from and yell out for the ensemble to perform - in any order. An onstage 60-minute timer keeps everyone honest. The plays will be spooky themed because it is Halloween season, and that is what the recipe calls for, friends. Saying “curtain” ends the play. Get ready for a night of sillyness, seriousness, fun, laughter, tears, and FAR too much Halloween candy!
When: October 22nd, 8:00pm - Doors open at 7:30pm
Where: 5628 Vineland Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 91601

*Neo-Futurism: The Neo-Futurist aesthetic demands that everything that transpires in their theater be non-illusory, which is to say that they pretend nothing; actors only play themselves. All plays take place on a stage, specifically, the stage on which they are performed, in the present. If one of the performers reports that something has happened, you can bet that it really happened. Much of their work contains the possibility of failure, a unique theatrical component that keeps them and the audience honest. Their plays are wildly eclectic, touching on all genres and tones; plays may be political, satirical, personal, tragic, comic, abstract, musical, surreal, poetic, and so on. The bottom line is that Neo-Futurism does not buy into the "suspension of disbelief"—it does not attempt to take the audience anywhere else at any other time with any other people. The idea is to deal with what is going on right here and now.
